Embodied Joy

“There is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way.”

– Thich Nhat Hanh

Embodied Joy is a co-created community practice centered on cultivating intentional joy.

The world is giving us innumerable reasons to be sorrowful, downtrodden, or outraged.

We need joy to fuel our inner resilience. It’s a courageous act to stare down challenges and adversities and say “I will not let you beat me down.”

I am inspired by my father to offer these workshops. At the core, his life was characterized by his ability to endure great hardship yet maintain a positive outlook.

In the final weeks of his 10 year journey with prostate cancer, I have a treasured memory of him sitting on the apartment porch, looking out on the city below, and singing Glen Campbell’s Rhinestone Cowboy with a smile on his face.

He was literally singing into the face of death itself. How badass is that?

Let’s take a page out of his book and bolster our spirits together.

We’ll share 👬👭

We’ll laugh 😂

We’ll play 🧚‍♀️

Details

Each session will be structured a little differently, but the core of our practice will consist of:

  • Checking in and group agreements

  • Thematic guided partner and/or group activities

  • Mindful sharing and listening

  • Laughter Yoga – The intersection of silliness, breathing practice, and improvisation. An uproariously good time. No, you don’t need to wear stretchy pants - we won’t be doing yoga postures like a typical “yoga class”!

January: Intentional 2026

Over the last 6 or so years, I’ve set an annual intention instead of a resolution to do or achieve something. During January’s Embodied Joy session, I want to share this practice with you because I find it helpful, adaptable, and evolutionary.

I say evolutionary because being intentional isn’t a quick-fix-life-hack-take-a-pill-and-voilá. Instead, intentionality is a mindful method of personal growth that reveals itself moment-to-moment instead of being focused on an outcome.

Setting an intention can:

  • Create an empowered, durable approach that you can lean on regardless of if days feel challenging 💪

  • Gently guide yourself into being the person you want to be 🌈

  • Offer deep learning through application and reflection 🤓

Still wondering what Embodied Joy is like? Hear from others!

The way Wei-Ming held the space was playful, inclusive, and deeply human. I loved that we were invited to express our reflections and feedback physically rather than with words, gently reminded that sometimes to connect all that’s needed is to listen, witness, and acknowledge.

I left feeling grounded, open, and deeply appreciative not only of myself, but of others as well, and of the shared humanity in the room. Thank you for creating such a thoughtful and well-held experience.
— Kris & Iška, yoga studio owners
Embodied Joy was an interactive, joyful practice in community. Listening, expressing, and moving guided by Wei-Ming free and safe. We-Ming’s space holding was really great.

Embodied Joy left me feeling warm and full, thanks to Wei-Ming and the wonderful community around me!
